Driving Legislation This page last updated on April 26, 2010 House Bills HB35 - PROHIBIT TEXT MESSAGING WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE. This bill would prohibit any person from operating a motor vehicle on a public street, road or highway while also text messaging on a handheld cell phone or other handheld wireless telecommunication device, including GPS. HB65 - GRADUATED DRIVER'S LICENSE AND LEARNER'S PERMIT CHANGES. This bill amends various conditions relating to driver's licenses and learner permits. HB139 - STUDENT MISCONDUCT AND DRIVER'S LICENSE SUSPENSION. This bill would require the Department of Public Safety, upon recommendation of a school principal, to suspend a student's driver's license for withdrawal from school for possession of a weapon or for serious misconduct or a pattern of misconduct or disruptive behavior in school. The principal would have to certify to the department compliance with all the due process requirements of the local school system's disciplinary policies and procedures. Senate Bills SB32 - GRADUATED DRIVER'S LICENSE AND LEARNER'S PERMIT CHANGES. This bill amends various conditions relating to driver's licenses and learner permits. SB46 - GRADUATED DRIVER'S LICENSE AND LEARNER'S PERMIT CHANGES. This bill amends various conditions relating to driver's licenses and learner permits. This bill is a duplicate of SB32. SB196 - PROHIBIT TEXT MESSAGING WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE. This bill would prohibit any person from operating a motor vehicle on a public street, road or highway while also text messaging on a handheld cell phone or other handheld wireless telecommunication device.
